Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Robson Square is British Columbia’s home for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Starting Tuesday, November 24, GE Plaza will be open for free public skating from Noon to 9 pm every day. Rentals are $3 and include helmets for those 12 and under.

The Mississippi Sheiks, a country and blues string band, has been called the Radiohead of its era, recording over 60 hugely influential songs between 1930 and 1935. Walter Vinson and Sam Chatmon formed the core of the band, with Sam’s two brothers, Lonnie and Armenter “Bo Carter” Chatmon, dropping in when they were in town. The group had a blockbuster hit with Sittin’ On Top of the World, which has since been covered by Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Cream and dozens of others. Featuring Danny Barnes, Jim Byrnes, Steve Dawson, among others.

The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art is downtown Vancouver’s public art gallery named after the acclaimed Haida artist Bill Reid (1920 – 1998). The Gallery is dedicated to understanding and appreciating contemporary Aboriginal art of the Northwest Coast of North America.
Continuum: Vision and Creativity on the Northwest Coast is a major exhibition of emerging and mid-career Aboriginal artists from British Columbia, Washington State and Alaska. The artists have used a wide variety of media and approaches from painting, photo-animation, textiles, sculpture, photo-lithography, jewelry and mixed media, to installation and collaboration. Exhibition runs June 20, 2009 – March 28, 2010

Antony Holland, founder of Studio 58 and winner of three Jessie awards, takes commnad of the title role in Tuesdays with Morrie. Adapted from the book of the same name, the play tells a true story about the ailing Professor Swartz who reunites with his former student, Mitch Albom, played by Joel Grinke, for a few serious and humourous lessons on living and dying.
