What's Vancouver Like in Summer?

Vancouver summer runs late June through mid-September with daytime temperatures 20 to 26 °C, long daylight that stretches past 9pm in late June, and minimal rain. The city moves outdoors: Stanley Park, three beaches (Sunset, English Bay, Second Beach), the AquaBus across False Creek, festival season, patio dining, and the Honda Celebration of Light fireworks over English Bay on three Saturday nights in late July and early August.

What's On in Vancouver Summer

Bard on the Beach, June through September. Outdoor Shakespeare at Vanier Park. Catch Bard on the Beach's 2026 season, featuring The Merry Wives of Windsor and Macbeth. Take the AquaBus from the Hornby Street dock to Granville Island, then walk west along the seawall.

Pacific National Exhibition, mid-August to early September. Vanier Park is a 25-minute drive east, and most downtown hotel guests use the SkyTrain via Commercial–Broadway. While you're in the area, don't miss Playland amusement park just minutes away.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival, mid-July. Three days at Jericho Beach Park.

Vancouver Mural Festival, August. Large-scale public murals across Mount Pleasant.

Summer cruise season at Canada Place, May through October. Pre-cruise and post-cruise hotel nights are heavy in the West End.

Summer is peak booking season, so the West End hotel options book out earliest. Hotels along Burrard and Robson, including Century Plaza Hotel at 1015 Burrard Street, sit further east. Century Plaza gives you 12-minute access to Sunset Beach for everyday swimming and a 20-minute walk to English Bay for fireworks nights, plus a central position for Robson Street, the Convention Centre, and the SkyTrain to BC Place and Rogers Arena.

The all-suite layout with kitchenettes works well in summer for picnic prep (Stanley Park, beach lunches). The indoor heated pool runs 8am to 10pm. c prime restaurant and Beyond Coffee handle on-site dining when the patio waits get long.
